  1. I love the little details you can find once you get past the glaringly absurd. Like the spiked balls hanging off the saddle blanket. What perhaps could those possibly serve beyond beating the ever living crap out of the spider-horse-lizard's hindquarters (or would that be hind-eighths in this case).

I'm still trying to figure out what the hell those things on the rider's feet are. They sure as hell aren't stirrups. It doesn't even look like they connect to anything.

Jeff Rients: "Are those Deep One/Wilford Brimley hybrids?"

It's the right thing to do, and the sahuagin way to do it.

  4. Centisteeds have antennae, not monohorns, but otherwise it's just a laser pistol and a diving helmet short of being a kick-ass Gamma World pic.

Yeah, to be truly Gamma World-ian somebody would need a stop sign shield or a football helmet.

It actually reminds me of one of the cover images for the brown books.

  7. given some of the crazy-ass monsters dreamed up (usually mish-mashes of seemingly random animal parts) in D&D and it's kin, it's a little odd to single out this one pic/artist for hit the pipe too hard.

but those green dudes TOTALLY look like Deep One/Wilford Brimley hybrids.

As elhijo said, I think it's the wildly nonsensical details that start to emerge after prolonged viewing.
